Summer Issue

Welcome to the first edition of the Accio Group newsletter.

It has been a busy first half of the year for Accio Group. Both the structures and events arms of the business have gone from strength-to-strength and we continue to secure lucrative contracts, such as Lidl, Royal Mail, Audi Polo Hospitality and the Audi Polo Awards.  Our busy programme for Sainsbury's has continued, with a GOL store and colleague extension structure delivered this quarter, as well as a number of temporary cafés.

We have also started our campaign to engage the industry in a wider debate on the uses and benefits of fabric tented structures in modern construction projects with a seminar hosted at the RIBA headquarters on Portland Place in London. The seminar was a huge success attended by a range of industry professionals across a variety of disciplines. We would like to thank Richard Ogden, the Chairman of Buildoffsite for delivering the opening address and initiating this lively debate.

Among the hotly contested topics was The Millennium Dome. Despite its worthiness as a prime example of how temporary and semi permanent tented structures can match permanent installations for design, build standard and cost-effectiveness, was it the political controversies of the time surrounding this iconic building that has meant it is the only structure of its kind in our country for 11 years?

In comparison to our international counterparts, we are years behind in our thought process and willingness to change. This is particularly frustrating when we operate in the UK construction industry, which is increasingly seeking greater value, cost and time certainty.

If you are interested to hear more on the above, please get in touch for further information on our seminar programme. We hope the below gives you a flavour of our recent projects and the benefits tented and fabric structures can bring to projects across all industries.

Best Wishes

Stephen Casey

ACCIO GROUP WINS GERMAN SUPERMARKET GIANT

ACCIO GROUP WINS GERMAN SUPERMARKET GIANT

Accio Group is delighted to announce a new working relationship with German supermarket chain Lidl, following the successful installation of a 600 square metre space at their Chepstow store in Wales.

The structure was installed over a seven day period and used whilst the main store had a full refurbishment. Trading results for the temporary store were even up on target.

Stephen Casey, Managing Director at Accio Group, said: “Accio Group enjoyed the challenge of this first project for Lidl and the team here is looking forward to developing further retail spaces to support their UK operations.”

With Lidl’s market share at 2.5 per cent, this news comes as the supermarket chain holds the largest share of the grocery sales it has ever had in the UK. Akin to Accio Group, efficiency is the cornerstone of their success as well as the benchmark for all operations and work processes.

BY ROYAL APPOINTMENT

BY ROYAL APPOINTMENT

On the 7th and 8th May, the Accio Group events team travelled to the historical Coworth Park Polo Club in Ascot to support the annual Audi Challenge Polo Cup, which due to royal wedding fever, was even more eagerly anticipated than previous years.

Since it was first played six years ago, the royal match has become a highlight of the British polo season. Guests attending the prestigious event read like the “who‘s who” of the polo and celebrity worlds.

This year, Prince Harry set tongues wagging and camera lenses snapping, after he was spotted chatting to oscar-winner Charlize Theron. Following the one hour game and subsequent prize ceremony, the guests partied well into the night to music from Paloma Faith.

Gill Webb at WRP who managed the event, says: “We were very pleased with the finished marquee and Audi thought it was the best ever. We cannot thank Accio Group enough.”

Stephen Casey, Managing Director of Accio Group, says: “I could not have been happier with the results my team produced for this event or the service they provided. The structure looked phenomenal and we are looking forward to replicating our success elsewhere for Audi.”
